Genesis 5 - 4 Falcons
What a game. Genesis had a great start. We competed, were strong and created some great chances. We went ahead after a ball from Jez beat the off side trap!! and Chris Ford finished cooly. Chris ford scored a second after ball through from Patman. Falcons got one back but we pulled away again after Ryan Patman broke down the play we't round the keeper and finished. 3-1 at half time. Second half falcons came out a lot stronger. They pulled 2 goals back to bring it level and then Steve Straker scored a header from a cross from Ryan Patman to put Genesis ahead 4-3. Falcons came back again and pulled one back to go level. In the last 10 we were under pressure and struggled to get composed. Falcons had a goal disaloud after some shirt pulling. And then in the final minutes of the game Andy Parker scored the most bizarre goal ever as as was sat down a few yards off the goal lne and managed to scoop the ball up over the keep. What a finish the crowds were going wild. We worked very hard and deserved the 3 points. A superb team performance. There was a few rumours in the club house of Genesis winning the league!! Steve Meadwell put in a great performance and was the deserved MoM
Genesis Res 5 - 1 Shepshed Res
We had a bare eleven for this cup match at shepshed, bainsey arrving
in the nick of time for kick off. We started a bit shakily, but nige
settled the nerves with a great finish. second half we palyed down
hill, nige again hit a first time shot to put us 2-0 up. they were on
top for about 20 minutes, pulling a goal back and should really have
equalised. However they seemd to run out of puff, and nige scored a
class goal to get his hatrick, a brliiant individual effort. Bainesy
got his reward for a great effort on a dodgy ankle, and matt north made
it five, again a deserved reward for a great game in centre mid, his
third postion in 2 games. MOM was Jon stanbridge, who gets better and
better in his new found position. asissts were form nige 2, matt reed
and vinny
