Genesis FC 1 - 1 Woodhouse Imps.
Genesis traveled to Woodhouse to a shocking pitch, not only was it at 45% there were so many holes and divots it was never going to be a pretty game. Proctor took one for the team and went in goal and did a superb job. We started into the strong wind but played some good football. Woodhouse got into some shooting positions but couldn't get any decent shots away with such a bobbly surface. 0 - 0 at half time. Woodhouse went ahead with a headed goal but Genesis kept going. We eventually got the equaliser with a dangerous square ball from Tyler that got put infrom one of their players. there was an old boys re-union on the side line as Aidy and Rob Cook came to watch. Steve Meadwell had a great game and was voted MoM.
Genesis 2nds 3 - 4 Ansty Town
A bright start from Genesis who opted to kick off with the wind behind them, but unfortunately conceded early on against the run of play. The equaliser came from a Pete Daniels bullet header following a Pete Carlill corner. Genesis then took the lead with Jimmy from long range expertly making the ball bounce to a stupid height to send the ball sailing over the bemused keeper's head. 2-1 up at half time. Playing into the wind the second half was always going to be difficult and Genesis found themselves 3-2 down. Jon Daniels made it 3-3 after ghosting past a few Anstey defenders and being brought down in the box. He picked himself up and dispatched the pen with ease. Anstey killed the game off to prevent extra time with only about 5 mins remaining - a cruel end to a good performance as the underdogs. MoM Pete Daniels & Jimmy Webster.
