Genesis 1st  1 - 4 FC Focus
Most of us met at 8.30am although a few had slept through alarms!! After a few laps of Liverpool we eventually found the pitch and then waited 20mins for the ref to turn up. It was a good first half with Focus going ahead after about 20mins. We came back with a header from Andy Parker from a corner from Jez. We were playing well and had a couple of other chances but failed to take them. We were playing into the wind in the 2nd half whcih was hard work. We started well but Focus grabbed a goal and we then struggled to get back into the game, we did have a few chances but we were chasing the game and some gaps emerged which Focus made the most of. They went on to finish 4 - 1 which probably isn't a fair refelction on the game although they were a well organised team who played some good football. A long way to go to get beat 4 - 1 but the soup and doughnuts helped ease the defeat. Jez was MOM

Genesis 2nds 0 - 3 Melton
It was a cold and wet start to the Reserves game away at Birstall. Although captain Pask was still out injured the boys looked buoyant and up for a Genesis win. The match unfortunately didn't start too well when Straker (the admirable stand in goalkeeper) suffered the consequences of the ball skidding off a greasy pitch, 1-0 Birstall. Soon after Birstall got another from the edge of the area and it was 2-0. This was when genesis started to play, looking a lot more organised Genesis settled the game down and put some good passes together. One move of particular note was a move involving defence passing to Andy in midfield, then onto Carlill who burst down the wing to whip in a cross which Matt Reed was narrowly beaten to. As the half progressed we looked more and more in control and other chances soon came our way and we were unlucky not have got one back by half time. Second hard we came out battling hard but unfortunately Birstall nicked another to make it 3-0. Undeterred, the Genesis boys battled hard for the rest of the half and continued pressing till the final whistle. No goals scored but a good committed team effort with Jimmy Webster worthy of special mention for a battling performance. Onto to next week with confidence we go, I've got a good feeling its our week!! MOM Jimmy webster
